Extinct animals that I know is mammoth. It looks like an elephant and can withstand the cold well. I saw this animal in the movie and books. If I actually face it, I would be scared because it's very huge.

Mammoths are indeed extinct animals. 
From the movies, they are so gentle. 
I am not sure, though, if they are truly gentle.
