In Korea, weekends are Saturdays and Sundays and I think Saturdays and Sundays are best too.
Actually there is no difference between two options because the fact that we can work 5 days and rest 2 days does not change for any option. Maybe, difference between two options is what day people consider to be the starting point of the week.
I think Monday is the starting point of the week.
And I go to church on Sundays.
So Sundays must be the weekends to me.

I agree with your idea that there is actually no difference because we still work for five days and rest for only two days. Maybe it would be different if we have longer weekends. ^ ^
