I think proper respect is one of the most important element for strengthening the long-term relationship. Even for a really close relationship like the family, I think one need a respect to maintain the relationship healthy. It is more easy to overlook the importance of respect as closer the relationship is. However, if one forget to respect the other repetitively, it will hurt the other continuously which will eventually ruin the relationship. We sometimes misunderstood a close person as a outlet of our emotion, and tried to express all the negative emotions like irritation or annoyance to there. We easily confuse that close people can always accept me and be still with us, but it's not true. We should always be aware that even the closest person get stressed when the other walk over one repetitively, and the one can leave us someday. Thus, it is important to show appropriate respect to the close person.

Respect covers a vast scope of values and virtues within a relationship. If this is gone, then there is no more relationship. Respect just like a living creature needs nourishment, warmth, and protection. Consistency to work hard to maintain it is a life long commitment.

Ergo, respect begets respect they say. The more we give it, the more we receive.
