I think experiencing difficulties is good for people to develop empathy and coping ability.

First of all, people can understand other people's situation by experiencing difficulties. It is hard to fully comprehend other people's difficulties without walking in their shoes. If people can grasp the reason on people's behavior, they are more likely to understand those who are suffering from hardships. Therefore, they can be a good advisor or friends and help them to get over a difficult hardships, and this process would contribute the development of empathy ability.

Second, people can study a variety ways to cope with different kinds of situations. People have trouble in something, when they have the lack of experience in specific situation. Even though many people moan under the process of figuring out a solution, once they overcome the bad situations, they could understand a variety of complicated issues, be flexible in the similar environment in the future.
