We had experienced some difficult historical situation in Korea like invasion of China and Japan, Korean War, colonial period etc.

Traditionally we have regarded education as the most important factor in survival.

Education gives us the chance to get good jobs and become rich.

Of course social culture and structure are not mature.

We are spending to raise capable and personal person not to raise civilian.

Here in my country, we regard education as the best inheritance a parent can give to their children. A family may not be rich but once they are able to send their children to school and finish their degree, it is one of the best achievement that a  parent could have.
