What could be some reasons why people love collecting certain items?

Collecting is that people like is a kind of hobby.
Collecting things can be a cheap or expensive item.
Just, anything I like collecting items.
It's simply funny and make memories about collecting items.
Almost, my around people have a hobby of collecting.
As an example, my uncle have a collecting teacups and dish.
The one room is its showroom in the his house.
And my mother have a collecting various plants.
But, her's pot(plant) is too many.
So, I often I can't find her's pot, and kick it barefoot, and I feel pain.
