I am the second of three brothers.
In Korea, the eldest son is traditionally given preferential treatment. This is because he must inherit and represent the family and be responsible for performing ancestral rites for one's ancestors.
Also, the youngest son receives the most love from the adults of the family.
On the other hand, the second son is not treated like the eldest son or loved like the youngest son.
I had to help my parents during the busy farming season, but while my elder brother and I did, the youngest was an exception because he was young.
Also, my parents bought my elder brother and youngest brother new clothes, but I inherited my elder brother's old clothes.
So when I was young, I wanted to be the eldest son or the youngest son.
But now I've changed my mind.
I like the second son like me now.
As I was not respected and loved like the eldest or youngest, I could understand better people who are in a difficult situation and I had to live more intensely and study harder.
