In Korea, in the past, the middle and upper classes hired maids, and the maids lived in the employer's home.
However, these days, it is not common to hire maids to do chores.
The reason is that labor costs are too high and most people live in apartments, making it difficult for maids to live with them, and home appliances to help with chores are well-equipped, so the need to hire maids has decreased.
However, it is known that some of the highest-ranking people still hire housekeepers.
Also, elderly people with limited mobility hire housekeepers, who do not live with them but only visit briefly a day to help them.
Currently, I have no intention of hiring a housekeeper because I can do the chores myself, but when I get older and have difficulty moving, I plan to hire a helper who will visit me occasionally to cook and do housework.
In Korea, unlike in the past, older people do not live with their children.
So I will need a helper when I get older and have difficulty moving around.
