English is widely spoken as a second language around the world. Why do you think so?

Another name for English is we called the world's official language.
Even in my country, students go to university or get a job at company through an English test.
For similar reasons, many countries spoken as a second language the world.
There are also reason why many countries use English.
We knows, the beginning of English from British.
And in the past, UK was strong and UK colonized many countries.
So including U.S. and many countries use English their native language.
As a result, now the U.S . influenced the world, English became more important.
So learning English has became basic in many countries today.
